Back To School campaign

Update on the Back To School campaign being run by Limerick CYPSC and the East Limerick Child and Family Support Network.

 Back To School Resources

The Back to School Resources page of is a collection of high quality resources, produced by over 22 local and national partners, that offer support and guidance for parents and carers on children returning to school. They are a mix of documents, videos, podcasts, webinars and interactive websites.

In particular I want to draw your attention to the Covid-19 World Service. In addition to public health videos voiced by doctors in over 30 languages, they have now added video messaging for parents of children returning to school. These videos were voiced by education professionals including teachers and SNAs working in Ireland and the messaging has been approved by the Irish College of GPs. Back To School information videos will be very helpful for those working with families whose may have difficulty engaging with schools or other services in English. It is available in over 30 languages and can be accessed here.

A reminder that if you are working with a family who are struggling to manage the Back To School transition, there are a wide range of Parenting and Family Support Services available in Limerick. You can find a full list of those in the Parenting Limerick Information on Parenting Support in Limerick brochure.

  1. Information Leaflet

Attached is the Back To School Information Leaflet developed by Limerick CYPSC and East Limerick CFSN. The leaflet touches on routines (sleep, screen time and mealtime) as well as how to maintain these routines once established. It also gives tips on communicating with children, managing any anxiety that may present as they return to school and parent self-care.

Paper copies and electronic copies of the leaflet were offered to all schools in Limerick for distribution to parents. 5,500 copies are also being distributed through the Mid West Simon School Stationary campaign as well as through community partners.
