This Summer eighteen young people from Abbeyfeale travelled to Lourdes as part of the Diocesan Pilgrimage. Students from Coláiste Íde agus Iosef, past and present, undertook this pilgrimage. Current senior students who travelled to Lourdes are; James Leahy, Liam O’Connor, Darragh Walsh, Pádraig Fitzgerald, Gearóid Collins, Toma Zilute, Ellen Lane and Kathryn Kennelly. An amazing experience was had by all involved. Many thanks to Canon John O’Shea for his continued efforts in making this trip happen.
“Lourdes was a great experience for everyone, we got to see the town, the grotto, the little village where Bernadette grew up. Most importantly got an insight of how important this place is for some people. Only a few times, if lucky, you'd get to see thousands of disabled people eager to take part in the procession at the grotto which happens every night at 9 o'clock. Thousands of people in wheelchairs take part with hopes and dreams.”Toma Zilute
“The experience was priceless. 110% recommend it to a friend. Would I go again? With a heart and a half!” James Leahy
